Bench seat suggestions??

Hey guys, I have been licking around putting a little more updated bench seat in the truck, preferably one with a flip down console. Are there any that fit better than others or bolt up a little easier? Was thinking a bench from '99-05 chevy truck since the seat belts are mounted to the seat frame, but open to any suggestions.

That looks pretty good, I like that you didn't have to drill holes in the cab. Is it wierd to have Dodge parts in a chevy though?? j/k

Re: Bench seat suggestions??

I'll go with that. Wish I could go with a nice set race style buckets, but the wife and the baby seat have to fit at times.
There is evidently something about 355 hp thru headers and dumped 2chamber flowmasters that will put a 3 year old right to sleep.

Re: Bench seat suggestions??

When I bought my truck the PO had installed the rear bench seat out of a 96 Yukon...the seat mount actually lined up with the existing nut plates in my floor....guess that's why he used it....or was it the cupholders?

I love how that 96 Yukon rear seat looks in there. Wonder where I could get one in black...

Re: Bench seat suggestions??

I wondered about that, but wasn't sure how it would look, but man that is very nice. Those are somewhat easy to find too.
thanks for the info. definitely that one is top of the list now for me to try

I don't think the made them in black, mostly tan, gray, red, and blue.

I never thought about using the rear seat. That's something worth looking into.

Re: Bench seat suggestions??

is the seat back adjustable on the rear seats? i'm plannin on putting a 99-05 seat in the 66 cause of the intergrated shoulder belts. the rear seats are a lot easier to find and usually cheaper tho.

Re: Bench seat suggestions??

I used the back seat from a tahoe and you do need to do some work to the tracks and make rear mount brackets..... the grey set that are on here are either from a suburban with original tracks or custom tracks from a yukon...
check out the seat i used from a 1996 tahoe 4 door.... another cool feature is that the bottom of the drivers seat and the passengers seat flip open forward....

My parents said I was the same way. If I wouldn't sleep my dad would strap me in his 11 sec 72 Nova and drive around the block... I would be out. He'll be a car junkie.

Re: Bench seat suggestions??

the first pic of the tahoe seats looks awfully low to me. I think some spacers would be needed to raise it up a little.

Re: Bench seat suggestions??

Hey guys with the tahoe back row seats, how did you run the seat belts? If I remember correctly they had shoulder belts on the outside seats, but I could be wrong. I have found a Denali rear seat (leather) and they want $250 for it. Is that a good deal?

Re: Bench seat suggestions??

still have not mounted the main seat belt piece on the floor but i believe all the trucks had a bolt hole for shoulder belts that can be used.... $250 should be about average.... i have seen them for sale as much as $400 but i only paid $100 for mine and that included all the seat belt pieces and bolts... (still working on getting pictures of the under seat spaces....)

Re: Bench seat suggestions??

It looks like the seat belt is bolted to the seat frame in the blue truck picture, but i guess I could get tan seat belts and use the factory mounting holes and original style belts.
I didn't think that was bad for that seat, depending on the condition.

Re: Bench seat suggestions??

The center seat belt buttons are attached to the seat and the center seat belt strap... the reason i said suburban seats might work better is because the frame on the tahoe and the yukon the rear seat frame mounts on the rear wheel well... the suburban frame might be flat... I also had to drill 4 holes because the seats are a 60/40 split and the frame has 2 center mounts front and back...

Does anyone know if Tahoe/Yukon/Suburban 3rd row seats will work?

Re: Bench seat suggestions??

I dont think they would work because they are to narrow.... they fit between the wheel wells.. instead of over them.
