There is no hard rule for this. Most people are cutting for @ least 1-2" of drop so they'll cut .25 - 1 coil depending on age & condition of the spring.

Did you pull the springs out & try reinstalling them?
If you did the above, how about switching them from side to side?

If you tried both of those ideas & still have the issue, I would have a .250" spacer machined for the offending side that way you know it will be adjusted by exactly .250". They make poly-urethane spring isolators in 1" thickness (& possibly shorter). Get one of these & have a machine shop mill it down to what you want.

You don't need 1/4" spacer to gain a 1/4" of lift. There is a lever/fulcrum factor involved, you probably only need half of that.

Have you tried swapping sides? Worked on my '85

No, I havent tried any of the suggested ideas. I have installed brand new 1'' lowering springs. I've had this problem before the lowering springs, that is why I replaced my stock springs thinking they were worn out???

Longhair is right about the spacer measurement. maybe try something like this and then take it and get it aligned.

The spacer will add height to the side you install it on.

Yow will need to shorten the tall spring by 0.15" to lower the truck by 1/4". As stated there is a ratio of spring travel to wheel travel. It might be easier to simply grind the end of the spring to get the 0.15" removed.

Re: How much 2 cut off of springs???

I own an '01 S10 lowered 4/5, and it suffers from this "Chevy Lean". I've tried spacers from Auto Zone (not the one pictured above which actually might be better than what I'm running). Mine just go inbetween the coils to stop the coil from compressing, which in turn increases the spring rate = even worse ride.

A fix that a lot of people have done with no issues is modify the sway bar link. They remove the height difference from the passenger side's link rod that connects the link to the control arm and bolt it back up. This only requires a new/shorter bolt to be purhcased if the rod is in good condition. A lot of people were leary about it at first, but there are people running like this for 3 years now on their daily drivers with no problems.

I plan on doing this to my S10, but waiting until I get new shocks so I can do it in one fail swoop...

Here's the link the sway bar mod: How to correct Chevy Lean

Does this mod make the truck lean more one way than the other when cornering since there is a pre-tension on the sway bar?

I still haven't done it myself, but from what others have said there is nothing noticable about the change other than the ride height. I'm no engineer, and I don't know if anyone on that board is, so if anyone with more knowledge on this type of thing wants to chime in before I take the plunge, please do so!

I heard today from a guy if you cut off a 1/4" of coil you will get a 1/2 drop and so on. He said whatever you cut, times by two and that is your drop??? Any feedback???

Scoti already answered this. It depends on the age of the spring and the truck it's in. Your results may vary....
