1971 Chev 1/2 T 4wd with 454-exhaust manifolds?

Hello, I am looking for any suggestions re exhaust manifold or headers to fit this application. I've had Hooker Super Comps on before, but they are pricey. I think I've found some Hedmans that will work. However, I would prefer to use stock manifolds. Found some on a 402 in a '71 GMC that should work, but my engine sits lower so they won't clear the frame or the clutch linkage. Any ideas out there? thanks, Monte

Normally on Big Block conversions for 4x4's, you need to notch/grind the frame to fit exhaust. They never made factory big block 4x4's for our years, so fitting them is custom work. Trevor

Re: 1971 Chev 1/2 T 4wd with 454-exhaust manifolds?

When i did the swap in my 70, i used 1977 454 pickup exhaust manifolds. I had to grind one nub off the pass side manifold was it. Just dumb luck they worked that good. I did the swap probably 16 years ago...

my 454 went in with no mods. (cept re-routing the exhaust to bolt up) i used the stock manifolds and the small block motor mounts and crossmember.

oh and welcome!!
