Can Someone decode and tell me what year this is?

The suburban I have for parts was said to be a 71 or 72 and it looks to have 72 door panels inside.

However it is a 6 lug. Not to say that is has not been changed out.

TCE162F568703

Model CE15916

If its origional the SPID says it has a positrac rear end.

Re: Can Someone decode and tell me what year this is?

Looking at your pics on the burb thread, it looks like a 72 with drum brakes.(which is not correct) Is the rear end 6 lug also? I wonder if it had a body swap at some point? Are the shoulder belts listed on the spid also?

six lug all the way around. It looks like a body or frame swap to me. Or someone from a very long time ago swapped out the front and rear suspension to get disc.

I'll check the SPID and see what it says. It does say all three rows of seats. OVHD air cond. If I can take pic I'll post it.

Re: Can Someone decode and tell me what year this is?

The bad part is the posi may be long gone now since we know something was changed. However, maybe it has a different posi back in it?

Re: Can Someone decode and tell me what year this is?

C = Conventional 4X2 Series 10-60
E = V-8 Gasoline
1 = GVR 3900 - 5800
5 = Model Type - Panel
9 = Model Year (1969)
1 = Assembly Plant Code (Oshawa)

Next series of numbers is the number of truck that came off line. WES

Re: Can Someone decode and tell me what year this is?

OOOOPS, sorry but after rereading your post and a little prodding from someone who shall remain unonimouse.. I decoded your model number.. Here is the corrected version as I understand this from my GM master parts catolog... TCE162F568703
T- is Body type (not explained in my parts catolog)
C- 2 wheel drive
E- Engine type V8 gasoline
1- Gross Vehicle weight 5000 (exc PK10)
6- Model Type Carryall
2- Year 1972
F- Assembly plant Flint
568703- Number the truck was off the assembly line.
Why it is 6 lug is anyones guess. Someone either changed the chassis or at least the front spindles, brakes, and rear end.

The initial T means GMC... a 72 only thing, like the extra C on a Chevy

The guy told me it was a GMC they got it for the front clip to fix a really nice truck his son dinged up.

I'm gonig to think that the 6 lugs were swapped on by someone that wanted the 5 lugs before the guy I'm getting it from purchased it some 5 years ago.

So that most likely means the POSI is missing. When I had the rear end up in the air I did not check.

I'll do that when I pick it up in a week or so.

Thanks to everyone for the help.
