Hello from the Heartland
Hey everybody...been lurking for a month or so while looking at everything from a '64 to '94 (really wanting a '67 or '68 SWB) and all I gotta say is man!!!, there sure is a lot of overpriced junk out there!
I really didn't want a BB but this truck was in my price range, and had to be a runner, not a roller. The "Ol Boy" that bought her in '93 wore out the original 350 and picked up a C30 for the 454 and also scavenged the radiator. He topped it off with a HEI distributor and aluminized dual exhaust. Said the donor was a '72 C30, but my search says that '72 did not have 454 available (where do I look for a date stamp?) Had been sitting for 5 years, ever since his wife suggested "Why don't you quit foolin' with that old truck and buy yourself a new one?" He did "and has never looked back". A bit of gas down the carb and she fired right off. A new rear brake hose and rear tires that held air were all that was needed to get to her hew home this Tuesday eve. Found out the rear is non-posi cause I got it stuck on my icy driveway (hah!) Don't know if it's a TH350 or 400 (how do I tell?) Really spartan truck, but I like that clean look with no trim. Other than heavy duty springs and a Throttle Control, very few options on the glove box card. Looking forward to getting back in to wrenching as a past time. John ps sorry for the HUGEphotos but the wife and I obviously haven't figured out the camera and download program yet

Re: Hello from the Heartland
Welcome to the board man. Hope you can get those pics up -- we love pictures around here. And you might try posting in the "Engine and Drivetrain" section; I have no doubt those guys can help you ID what you've got.

Re: Hello from the Heartland
Thank you for the welcomes gentlemen. Let me try the images again.
arrrr! obviously, a bit more photo practice is necessary Rockers are toast, but strange the floor is solid? as well as corners. Bit of rust on brow of the pass side rear WW and lower edge of the tailgate. Also has bondo at the left rear light. Other than this, the only body damage is a crease across the gate. Grill is in great shape. Will crawl under and ID the tranny tomorrow. Can't wait to tune up the motor and drive to see what may need immediate attention.
