Re: Camper?!

check your lights, cross the chains, use a good hitch, check the tires on the camper, and don't drive like an idiot.

Re: Camper?!

How big is the trailer? For a decent sized trailer a load-equalizing hitch is a huge help. If the camper has trailer brakes make sure you have the controller setup in your truck. Make sure you have the proper mirros on your truck so you can see what's going on behind you.

Re: Camper?!

Normally a camper goes on the truck. Are you towing a trailer with the truck with the camper on it or hauling the camper on a trailer?

Could be a pop-up camper that is towed behind.

Re: Camper?!

You have a K2500.A K/20 would be a Chevy ."Camper" is a general term, but you said it even comes with tie downs and asked about you truck hauling it which tells me it`s a slide-in camper.Just load it,ties it down and go like you have something you are driving the first time.Watch for branches and other low objects. You`re up there at over 8',remember.Don`t want to crush the overhang.

Re: Camper?!

Thanks you guys, Yeah I meant slide in camper. I picked up a cherry camper. Its from the late 70's. Sat in a garage most its life. When I was cleaning it... I found in a neat clean envelope... It's Bill Of Sale From The Lot. Title, Owners Manual. And Parts Sheet. That tells you how nice it is for being that old! I'll Post Pics Up Soon. I have worked the last 7 days straight. I got it home on my lunch break. I havent had any time to enjoy it yet

And Yeah It is a k25 My bad :/

I thought those pop-ups were light... it looks like it squished your truck flat to the ground!
J/K, nice truck!

My best advise to you would be to first buy new rear leaf springs and shackles. I would also advise you to go with the 6 leaf set, not 5. Then the second thing I would do is to add a rear sway bar. You want to use at least 10 ply tires on 10" rims also. Slide in campers tend to cause your truck to rock, because the center of gravity is higher than if you were towing a trailer. I have a customer that just went through all of this with his GMC Custom Camper Longhorn. His main complaint was how his truck was rocking around while the camper was on, making popping and creeking noises. Now that I replaced everything that is listed above (except the sway bar) he is extreemly happy with it. He tells me it rides like a new truck and only rocks a little when off road. That is where the rear sway bar would help him.
