useless post
Im sorry I know this is pointless but after two years I have to share I got my truck running I havent touched it for a year and a half. I did fluid changes new valve cover and gaskets. Then it didnt want to fire put cas in the carb and bam ran like a new car couldnt believe it sounded amazing and wasnt missing at all. I know this is pointless just sooo excited had to share.

Re: useless post
I moved mine down the driveway out of the garage a couple weeks ago- was the first time I had ever got to drive it- so we understand your excitement!
To the average person, who cares?, but to the guys on here, we get it! Good luck with the rest of the project. |

Re: useless post
Glad to hear you got it to running and so good.
To me no post is pointless, I like reading them all. A few weeks ago I finally got around to starting my two trucks, they had set all winter. I was surprised both batteries were still up. I did have to use a little starting fluid on the '71 with the Q-jet. The '67 with the monojet fired right up. I am getting pretty old so I figure this will be the year I better start restoring them, but where to start is the question. The '71 will get an engine transplant in the next few weeks. Changing from a stock 350 to mild built 454. I don't need the extra power, but my grandson wants the 350 for better mileage. Danny

Re: useless post
Not sure about the useless part. You got some work done on your truck - and got it running after a long sleep.
Several people don't even get that far... Congrats on getting it back up and running! |

Re: useless post
I put the beast away in Nov. and can hardly wait to get her on the road again. Too much salt and snow and crap up here in the north (Minneapolis mn) plus medical restriction keeps me from driving until May 1. I want to work on it but in an unheated garage it's cold! (-3 this morning) There's stuff in the parts bin and I need to put a muffler on. Hard to wait that's for sure!

Re: useless post
congrats on the first run! That is a huge motivator to hear it run, after that you just want to drive it. Hurry up and get it on the road and enjoy the heck out of it!

Re: useless post
That first time having the engine run or that first pass up and down the driveway are always something to remember and take note of. Most of the rest of us have had that thrill at least once and it never gets old, at least to me.
I think you can do a Paypal account without having too much personal info or bank account on it and you can always get a prepaid card to use as the credit card on it. My daughter uses that style of card for online purchases. I'm not sure where she gets it but she can have the store reload money on it and go again like some phone cards. |
