Front End Swap

Can someone point me to a thread or a “How To” detailing all that’s involved with swapping an 81+ front end onto a 73-80 truck?

Re: Front End Swap

I think there is a more involved writeup on coloradoK5.com, but I can hit the highlights. Aside from the sheetmetal (duh), you will need to make a slot on each side of the cowl for the hood hinges, swap the wiper stands, and trim the front framerail tabs for the bumper brackets. It really isn't too bad of a swap.

Re: Front End Swap

Yeah, I saw the writeup on CK5...I'm really looking for more detailed info w/ pics of the hinge assembly and how to attach it to the 73-80 cowl.

Re: Front End Swap

It's been a long time since I have done it. As I recall, we just had to cut a hole for the hinge and bolt it in. I do know tht the fenders will bolt up to the existing holes. No problem there.
