Re: Some questions about my 71 C10
The engine should be computer controlled for tbi so the distributor should be the small cap computer controlled dist. I am not sure of the cut off date for intake pattern changes, but I don't think you should have a problem as far as the actual bolt on, the issue will be the changes made to your 400. If anything other than stock, the tbi may not be enough to feed it. What type of carb does it have currently? What about your timing? You can play with these two items and possible achieve a few more mph. I realize you have to import everything but I think I would look at the setup from holley projection or comparable setup, as it would be more adjustable for what you want to do. I would also think you would have to change the fuel delivery system (need more pressure etc.) so it may be more work than you would want to do.

Re: Some questions about my 71 C10
When i make this conversion, i take all parts from my van, the tank, fuel pump and so on.
Whe it is a 400, it is stock as far as i know. Just a edelbrock intake and carb, what kind of carb i dont know. I know its a big work, but if its possible i like to do it. I like the cruise control too and maybe i take the th700 but ont know if it can handle the torque of the 400. Many many questions out there |

Re: Some questions about my 71 C10
Why not swap the engine and transmission from the van into the truck? If you have all the wiring and computer to go with it, it isn't really that difficult.
