Re: 70 GMC Transmission Advice
Get a good book & a good jack. Are you asking for some one to physically come help or step by step directions?

Re: 70 GMC Transmission Advice
Sooo....what are you looking to do? The turbo 400 can be built very strong with the right sprags....it will be much stronger than a 700R4 and you're running a big block....

Re: 70 GMC Transmission Advice
Thanks,
I am going to pull it myself with my sons help. I have a trans shop that is going to rebuild it for me. Just looking for any advice on tricks for pulling it. Dusty

Re: 70 GMC Transmission Advice
get a good trans jack and have the truck up high enuf to get the trans out from under the truck. drain the oil first.

Re: 70 GMC Transmission Advice
Now would be a good time to get a transmission pan with a drain plug. Makes filter changes a lot less messy.

Re: 70 GMC Transmission Advice
For those that have removed the tranny, any helpful info that may help during the removal such as the links, speedo cable, unbolting, drive shaft removal, plug, etc...? I have never removed one so I'm interested too. Thanks

Re: 70 GMC Transmission Advice
Don't pull the driveshaft out until your ready to catch the tranny fluid coming out the tail shaft.
Don't force the re-install. Make sure the converter is in place before bolting it back up. It should click in 3 times as you spin and insert into tranny.
