Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
So are you happier with the oem injection over the fast injection?

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
Funny you ask that today. I think I just figured out why it stalled or tried to when I put it in gear. It was lean. I have two old beetles and when they are lean they try to stall when you let the clutch out at idle. But yes. Very happy. I just figured that out today fixing my 59 beetle.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
Yep. Sold efi. No the truck. Major differance. More drivable and maybe a tad more power. Prob from the tune I had done to it. I traded the efi for cash and a ecm and harness for wife's longbed I build and sold.
Did you ever get yours figured out. Knew you were having issues with the efi.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
I think my tune is a bit too hot but otherwise it runs great. My issue was a high speed vibration. Bought a new slip yoke and threw in my old d-shaft and seems like less vibration so maybe I'm on track. My worry lately is that in changing the leaf spring chassis over to a coil spring/trailing arm setup, its somehow not totally square...and with changes I've made and updates I want to do including paint....I'm considering pulling it all apart again.
I really need to get working on my '72. It needs a little more rust repair and some interior upgrades. I wish I could keep it but its got all my "project vehicle" cash in it. I'll clean it up, sell it...and look for another one to start over with. Been thinking about selling the old caddy too as its just been sitting and I don't feel the attachment to it I thought I would.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
Finally got time and money at the same time and was able to buy trans fluid and remove my old converter and install a new seal and the new converter. Old one looks like crap will post pics tomorrow. It looks like it was blown up or split open at one time and welded back together. New one has a anti-ballooning plate I think. Got as far as bolting the trans back up and transfer case crossmember bolted up. Will finish up in the morning.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
Got the converter finished up. Transmission took almost 3 gallons of fluid after changing the filter. I took the truck out for a drive and right away it seems better. It seams a little tighter all the time but when you punch it it seems to stall a bit higher. I punched it in 3rd and it shifted to second a pulled harder then it would ever before. I also stall tested it and it stalls at about 22-2300 rpm before the tires brake loose. On a side note I think I need a traction bar cause I punhed it from a stop and the hole rear end shook badly. I need to take the lift blocks out the po installed and get shackle flip kit.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
have you checked the angles of the driveshaft rear and trans?
if there off a little that could explain the vibrations might need to rotate the diff a little to get it perfect

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
Well I passed my inspection a few weeks ago. Even with leaking radiator. (Only leaks cold thankfully). It has been on daily driver duty due to the colder weather here lately. It has been in the upper 20s and lower 30s in the mornings and my beetle does not have a heater. My coolant leak has gotten a lot worse so i found where I purchaded it from on eBay and got a hold of the warranty department and sent them some pictures and they warrantied it. I was very worried they were gonna pull some bs like lots of ebay stores do. They emailed me and said "unfortunately they don't have any 2row cores in stock but.....we can upgrade it to a 3 core for no additional fee to me. Would that be ok?" I said hell ya send it to me. This was monday or Tuesday of this week. I came home from work and found the radiator was at my door step! Opened that bad boy up and found it had polished tanks and was a nice wide 3 row. Could not be happier. The store on eBay is radiators4less. Very good customer service. I can't wait to install it Sunday.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
They use champion radiators. The only down side is where the old dad was clamped down on the tank seam is not on the aluminum rad. I still need to fab up some new upper mounts. But this wider one may be better.
