Wrong Carb Adapter? PO has me confused on what he did.

Hey guys,

I was doing some work on the truck today and I pulled the carb and adapter plate. Here is the thing, I have a Edelbrock intake, and an Edelbrock carb but I can't find the right gasket for between the intake and spacer.

I need to figure out what gasket I need for the adapter plate or if need to run this adapter plate, or a different one, I am lost here.

Not sure what the PO did here, or if it is right.

Here are some pics of what I have going on:

Edelbrock Intake:

Edelbrock Carb:

Spacer:

Thanks guys, you

I would say try a stock quadrajet gasket on the intake should work for ya .

You already have a hi-rise manifold... the spacer isn't doing anything else for you.
You can run a regular four barrel carb gasket for a holley or edelbrock from any parts store.

He has a square bore carb and that's a spread bore intake so you can't mount the carb to the intake without a spacer.

might try this, i used it on my spread bore intake to square bore carb, worked great, only added about 1/4 inch to carb height.

Hey thanks guys! I went to go pick up a quadrajet gasket and they didn't have any, I'll try Napa tomorrow.

Re: Wrong Carb Adapter? PO has me confused on what he did.

That intake has both bolt patterns. Technically that carb would bolt on without the spacer BUT they tend to have a vacuum leak around the back barrels. If you wanted to do away with the spacer you could run a plate like the one linked below. Since you already have the spacer I would just use it.

You should be able to get a spread bore gasket at NAPA no problem. It does not have to be specifically for a QuadraJet. It can be any aftermarket spread bore gasket.

Re: Wrong Carb Adapter? PO has me confused on what he did.

i'd take the adapter with me to the parts store and get gaskets that fit each side// or just get a lenth of gasket material and cut out the two gaskets required then you'd have gasket material left over and in stock for the next dilema

Use one of the plates above they will work just fine. And not the one you have it will mise up your fuel air flow and rune an gains from puting on the intake.

That works but it is much easier to place the sheet on the surface you need to make the gasket for, and punch out the holes with a drift punch through the bolt holes. When thats done, fix the sheet to the mating surface with the correct size bolts and GENTLY tap around all of the edges with a light ball peen hammer held at 45 degrees to the edge. The sharp metal will very precisely cut the gasket for you and since it's an exact match--- NO LEAKS.

Works on inside and outside edges and those 3/4 inch throttle bores too.
