My 1965 GMC project Lots of pics
Hey here is my 1965 GMC project that ive Been working on for the last while
Sorry about some of the pics some were taken with a cell phone i got the truck From a good friend almost 3 years ago it was his uncles truck who died in a plane crash he was planing on fixing it but had to many other projects on the go ( he has lots of old trucks and cars ) this was to be my first resto so i hope you guys enjoy it as much as i have so far Lets start off with the engine its a 230 straight 6 .... when i first got the we tried turning it over with no luck until we pulled it apart and found that number 4 was rusted shut so i had an option toss it get a V8 like everyone else try to find a good used 6 and rebuild it or fix this engine.... well we decided to fix this one it cost about $850 to fix the engine only had 73549 original miles so it was worth keeping Work done Head combustion chambers were cleaned and head was resurfaced and 2 new valves ( guides were fine) Block Block Was acid dipped No 4 cyl was bored and a sleeve was installed and bored to factory specs all other cylinders were honed new cam bearings were installed new piston ( of course) new lifters crank cleaned and checked New frost plugs all new main bearings rods were checked new rod bearings factory spec Thats all.... was not that bad as i thought it was going to be here are the pics me and my friend and i put the motor together ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Looks all nice a perfect ![]() ![]() Last edited by z24god; 03-23-2010 at 02:17 PM. |

New exhaust

some other little things working on
![]() ![]() ![]() My new seat it was a pain in the butt to do but the new cloth is super soft i will take pics of it with the plastic off soon ![]() sorry if the truck look dirty just lots of dust it happens when working on stuff ![]() Now i just need my new carpet in and will look really good More pic to come on other things im still working on so for i have finished the fenders,doors,hood i will take pics of them soon before and after paint ... You got rid of all the engine insulation,or was that fire retardant? Looks great now.

I like the truck, brings back memories of when I was a little guy and we would go for family travels in the truck and my mom and dad and three sisters all sat on the bench seat and my place was on the floor, lol. I use to just sleep. My kids today would be shocked to see how things were when I was little.

its just flat black paint it the same paint i used on the frame i think it called Rust Zero they have other colors to .... i bought it at a local body supply shop it was cheap stuff it really durable i tried to chip it off the frame buy hit tit with a hammer and nothing at all happened no chips so im really impressed with the stuff
