83 to 79 gauge cluster swap
I am buying a 79 GMC crew cab 4x4 and will be doing a cummins swap into the truck and want to put a diesel gauge cluster in the crew cab so I can utilize the "wait to start" light and the "diesel only" fuel gauge. Just so happens my friend has a 83 2wd diesel body and is considering trading me for a spare 78 gauge cluster I have laying around. Does anyone know if this is even feasible? I am aware I will have to do some wiring to make the wait to start light to work but other than that will the gauges interchange with minimal issue?
Thanks for your input, Seventy468 |

Re: 83 to 79 gauge cluster swap
1. That truck looks familiar, is that the one that has/had a broken t-case?
2. Just swap the fuel gauge in the cluster... cluster removal would not even be needed, just the lense. 3. I think the 'wait to start' and 'water in fuel' light is mounted in the bezel. You could just cut a hole and transfer it to your stock bezel that fits your stock dash pad. |

this truck is coming from Nebraska. I am getting ready to head out and get it. Do you think you still know this truck? If so PM me. Thanks for the info. |
