Re: need advice

I don't think I understand, are you saying the '69 is titled as a '89?

Re: need advice

I would ditch the bed and call the PD for a vin inspecton that is obviously a 69....it must be a typo when they did the title

Re: need advice

Is everything but the cab/clip an '89? As in the frame, driveline, box...? If its the 69 frame and cab/clip, I agree with Hottrucks, I would try to get it back to that on the title. I think I would use that frame and put your 67 body, etc on it (assuming you have the title for the 67). I am partial to the 67 front end. Plus, from the looks of it, there is lots of work to do to that cab...would you actually be gaining anything? (unless you like the 69 better?)

Re: need advice

the cab and front clip are 69' the frame is 73-87' the trans and transfercase and motor are late 70's early 80's i bought the truck for the frame and drive train but considered fixing it but the title issue bothers me it is correct according to the indiana dmv.

i have clear title to the 67' plus it's an original a/c cab with ful gauges including factory tach and tilt stearing

Re: need advice

I seem to remember years ago in Californina, if a person built a vehicle and did not have a title it was registered as special construction for the year it was put together and had to have the smog requirements for the year it was registered.

Re: need advice

i think thats what they had done with this truck i just think maybe it would be better to put the 67' cab on the other frame an not worry about the 69' cab i might use the front clip for awile

Re: need advice

Part it out for a profit (if possible)?

We often hear stories about needing the frame vin to match the cab vin. So doing the frame swap might be a bad idea (even though that might be your biggest need at this point)

Re: need advice

if you know someone that owns or works at a wrecking yard they can take all the info and still make it as what you wish it to be and fill out the paper work for DMV for you. I know this from a previous truck I had problems with at DMV. just dont bring the truck to DMV. unless asked but also I do agree with previous posts it might almost be best to call the PD and have them do a vin check as it is clearly visible it is not a 89

Re: need advice

i had the state police run the vin on the truck and they said it is legit and that i can register the 69/89 any time i would like. the vehicle investigator refered to it as a "kit truck" or "manufactured vehicle" so it was given a mvin (manufactured vehicle identification number) from indiana when it was remanufactured. i think i might keep this one and use my 67' for parts
