Gas tank outside frame rail
Has anyone tried to mount a gas tank on the outside of the frame rails on a 67-72 short wide bed like was done on the 1973 and later trucks before it was moved inside the frame rails? If so what tank was used?

assuming the necessry room is available undeneath the cab/bed, all you need is the tank and the straps from the 73-87 model. of course, you will have to drill the necessary holes in the frame rails to set it up. then, of course, you will need to weld in a fuel door, etc.....
good luck!! |

Even if date line (or was it 20/20?) did add a spark in there infamouse report... it is still a bad location for a tank.
