5/7 drop question: What size tire could I run?
Could I run a 255/50 17 with a 5/7 drop? Right now, I'm running a 255/55 17 with a 3/5 and not having any rubbing issues at all. (Well, ok...ONE, but I don't think it's RUBBING, I think something else is hitting) But my rim is 9½" wide with a 5½" backspacing. Also, would I need to change my shocks? I'm running DT's both front and back. I think they told me the front's are basically stock replacement size, but the backs are for a flip kit. (can't recall the exact #'s right off hand) I know for a fact I'll have to change my headers (to those G body ones for $209) But other than that, and C-notching my frame...I think 5/7 will have to be put on soon

i'm on 56k now so i'm being very lazy and not looking up the diameter of a 255/50/17. but you need a tire thats close to 27 inches of diameter.

it should work fine then, as long as your backspace on your wheels is correct

as for the shocks you cant go wrong with summit. $25 a piece, i bought a set of four just front and rear drop shocks. you will need front drop shocks aswell to get the proper valving. good luck

Ryan,
Would the shocks I'm currently running work witha 5/7, or would I have to change to a lower shock? |

you may be able to use them but also think that with the 5 inch drop in the front, you'll be cutting the bumpstops down and the shock isn't designed to work at that length, you will see alot of shock absorber fade with a stock shock absorber, if your on a tight budget you could probably use the stock shock, just mount it with out the spring in place and push the lower control arm up and see if your shock will travel well enough and won't bottom out... thats my suggestion, i mean you are going with spindles and springs right?
but other than that it may be possible, but keep in mind that your normal shock travel will now be 3 inches less than stock and the normal working length of the shock is now that much more compressed at all times ( assuming 3 inch coil drop) oh yeah with the 5/7... get a skidplate! at night you may notice a few sparks...

4052G(Front) 4095G(Rear) I guess for a 4" front drop, I could run the 4052's, but I think that's assuming 2" spring/2" spindle...so I may be ok, cuz I WILL have a 2" spring |
