A little nostalgia

Took the wife to the drive-in movie on Friday night in the pickup. Bench seats FTW!

It's been years since I've been to a drive-in. Thankfully there's still one open in Scottsdale.

Re: A little nostalgia

Okay, don't tell us the details but did you try to get a little "frisky" just for old times sake? You can't go to a drive in and sit calmy with your hands in your lap...the other person's lap maybe, but not your own!

Re: A little nostalgia

Thats why I sold the buckets and went back to a bench, nothing like the little lady sitting right next to you or fitting a few kiddies for a ride in the old truck.

That's why I got buddy buckets. I can pretend I'm in my manship with buckets with the center seat down, and I can snuggle up to the wife and take the kiddies riding with me with it down!

Full-on cool... We still have an old school drive in here on Whidbey Island, WA. My daughter works there...

Re: A little nostalgia

There's actually a website with a list of operating drive ins. It's been posted but I'm to lazy to search a link right now.I would like to find one near me and get a group of car/truck guys and their ladies to go.

Re: A little nostalgia

I went to the drive-in a few years back...it's amazing how hard it is to actually watch the movie! There's so much distraction! But, there's nothing like being in the back of the truck at a drive-in!

Re: A little nostalgia

I remember watching Young Frankenstein at the drive-in in Wichita, Kansas as a kid in my dad's 68 F-100 with blankets all piled up in the bed. I don't think us kids watched the movie at all, just ate tons of junk food and took it all in!

Then, in Hawaii, a bunch of us piled into my girlfriend's 73 toyota corolla and whatched Pumpkinhead or something. She didn't have a radio so we had to hook that speaker to the window. We all got drunk and I had to drive home. Hit one of the speaker-poles on the way out. It sure was tempting to just floor it and jump over all those parking humps!

And remember the playgrounds next to the screen? And the dirty snack bar under the screen? Those were the days! (If you don't think about the mosquitoes, smoke, rain cancellations, people walking all over the place, fights, etc).
