Headliner question
Getting close to installing the interior on my project. My question is, were the headliners glued to the roof in any way? I had the upholsterer reback my headliner and am using the original vinyl.
It seems that it's a little too much of a span to just hang in there by the trim edges. |

It is glued from the factory. I have seen some folks use velcro on them to hold them up, I don't like that because of the heat issue. I use a 3M glue out of a 5 gallon can from a local upholstery man. The 3M in a spray can, heavy duty or not, will not hold! Been there, done that ! It will for a while, but lets go pretty quick. Spray the back, and the roof, let them sit a few, before sticking them, it seems to work the best with any glue.

i used liquid nails it held it up in place with no problems// whatever glue you use make up a press jig out of 2X4's to wedge it up into place and hold pressure on it overnight till the glue cures

Same procedure that Cdowns used. Liquid nails and use 2x4's as legs and put a piece of plywood cut to fit as the support. Works well and the glue looks close to the factory type. No problems here except when you might want to remove it later . Trevor

For the record, you may want to leave the last inch around the vinyl loose, so when you stick the trim on, it will leave a nice snug look around the edges. Trevor

has anyone just glued the headliner and left off the trim? This is what I am considering as my truck doesn't have the slits in the roof for the trim. If so, does it look OK or look like it needs something trimming it out?

mine is up with liquid nails and no trim. Looks fine. No one has ever even questioned the lack of trim.
