nah no pinging or knocking going on....so valve seals eh?....do they heat and seal better once warm or something? sorry Im out the loop on head antics. what would typical cost be on replacing them....sounds like your giving me a green light on new set of performance heads if i find a set! especially if the heads gotta come off anyways! lol.

Valve guides could be worn out also. If so changing the seals may not help, but usually on the small block it is the seals. You don't have to remove the heads for that. You will need an air hose you can screw into the spark plug hole so you can run air from the comperssor in there so the valves don't fall in when you remove the retainers. Sad thing is the seals are real easy to replace. You will need a spring compressing tool though.

If you have no pinging or knocks just use Reg gas.
