250 Questions

I'm new here. I do not own a Chevy but my Jeep is made up of mostly Chevy parts. I just put in a 250 straight six out of a 80 C10. Havent got it running yet. I bout it from a guy who put a 350 in his truck. He said it has 170,000 miles on it. But said it ran good, I only paid 60 bucks for it.

So here are the questions. Is this engine gonna move my rig? It weighs about 5000 pounds. Also will my ps pump off my Chevy 350 work with this engine? its got the integrated head, is this crap? and what is with the double exhaust manifold?

Thanks for any info you all can give me. It might sound weird to take out a Chevy 350 for a 250. but I've always been a inline six fan and my 350 is near death anyway.

There were a lot of truck made with 250's so it will move your jeep but it wont set any land speed records.

Re: 250 Questions

If your gears are a little on the steep side, it will be fine. I don't know about the integrated head, my 250 had been replaced with an older one of unknown vintage.
