Krazy Texan,

Seriously...advice is only as important as what you do with it....

I didn't go to college...I spent all my money and time after high school messing around with bands, trucks/cars and other. If you have a chance to go to college, do it, and make things easy on your self while your there. Put things into perspective...the truck will drain you and not give you much of a liquid return....however college could land you a pretty good paying job....that will allow you to buy another truck/bike or whatever else...or even more! I neve figured that out until now.

Just my opinion...but hindsight's 20/20.

holy crap we are almost in the same position! i graduate next tuesday and am going to a college next year that is about 55 miles away, and my parents said that my truck wouldnt cut it for transportation. so i told them last week that i was probably buying a Honda Rebel (entry level-i wont kill myself on it- bike) and they ****. they told me i was out the house and on my won, school and everything, if i got a bike. so yesterday i came home and told my dad about the 93 camaro for sale by work, 3500, v8, etc, low miles, etc. he said "no, you'r not getting a car, even a camaro" so i said, well thats what i can afford, and he said they will probably help me out with a new-ish s-10 or something, but i still ahve to sell my truck before the end of summer. but hey, i have all the parts to build my dream truck in my shop, so i'm not sweatin it at all, i jsut need to get off my ass and finish painting the damn thing

I did a bunch of rebuilder cars during the two summers before college and my first year on the side to pay for a then new 48 horsepower 1978 VW Diesel Rabbit (48-52 mpg). Mind you this is NOT what a 19 year old wanted then or now. But it made so much sence then. All my other buddies were limiting there driving and their lifestyle just to pay to fire off their 454's, 427's, 440's, and 428's once in awhile, while I was off on major road trips on the weekends with my roomates/friends exploring the world beyond their grasp......or their tank. Somewhere in between I got the education that made it possible to not worry much about gas mileage. Like most people here..........I say sell it, go to school, by something better on the other side.
