Re: any tricks /pic of installing vintage air sure fit system

See my build thread below my signature. My truck came with Old Air aftermarket A/C that was originally mounted on a blank-off plate that came with the A/C. I welded in a smooth plate and smoothed the firewall in this area. My truck is not an A/C cab but I plan on adding round A/C ports in each lower dash corner (through a 2" hole, not under). I'll then put some center ports into a built-in console.

Just Wondering....

Just wondering why you chose the VA system over the OA system. (OA=OldAir, VA=Vintage Air) I'm quite sure the VA system is a quality system but I do really like the electronic OA controls that come in the kit.

With the electronic controls, there are no cables to route and adjust. It is a plug and play deal.

OA also comes with the in-dash vents for those (and there are many) trucks not equipped with factory AC. Just cut the holes and use the vents supplied with the kit.

One last item I like about the OA system is the better serviceability to components. What I mean is that smaller assemblies can be replaced as needed over time rather than large expensive assemblies.

Again, I am just curious about your choice...wondering if it is hidden better or some other advantage I am not aware of.

I don't have AC in my truck yet...but it is the first thing I will do when I get out of this hell-hole called Iraq. After much research about the manufacturers out there for our beautiful trucks, I liked the OA better. Just MO.

Yes, there are kits available that utilize your factory controls. $1095 with indash vents included for trucks W/O factory AC.

I am also reviewing the VA thread. Lots of good info there for virtually any install for our trucks.
