changing shift indicator on automatic column

i need a little help-

i recently purchased a steering column for my truck but the shift indicator fiber optic assembly that bolts on the column is broken

does anyone know how to change out the fiber optic cable into a new housing .

any advice is appreciated

Stock or aftermarket column? I haven't changed one out, but I did work on mine til I got it working. I think they are pretty easy to replace. One end goes into the white dash bulb socket then runs up the column until it goes inside the "bowl" which is the part of the column that moves when you shift. That end should snap into the orange part of shift indicator.

it is a stock column - the housing for the shift pointer was broken but i have a good one on my old column but i had to destroy the old housing to get the shift pointer out - i'll try to see if it snaps in and out if so i am in good shape - thanks for the info - i didnt want to force it and break the cable or the end.
