throttle linkage

OK.....just figured out that I'm not getting wide open throttle when the pedal is fully depressed.

Seems the factory pedal assembly doesn't offer enough movement to open the butterflies completely on a throttle body as opposed to a carb.

I was thinking I could shim out the pedal assembly and maybe bend the pedal linkage to get more movement but I wondered if you guys might know of a better aftermarket solution?

Can't wait to see what kind of power I'm running when I do get this fixed...I thought it was pretty good the way it was ;-)

by making the distance to the pivot point on the throttle body shorter in will open more with the same amt of pedal movement

It's almost impossible without pics to see what you have now. Is your current linkage cable or a rod? Shimming the entire assembly is not the answer. There should be an easier way to do it. It's all about angles. Like the clown said. If you shorten the "throw" of the lever, you can get more movement up top with less movement down low. Just like a short throw shifter. Need pics though!!!

Ahhhhh, I get it.

Cut the top of the stock accelerator pedal linkage (bar) to shorten it then weld a small washer or something on it to connect the cable ......

My actual linkage is Lokar linkage so it's cable....but I get the idea now.

Yea, I posted that and left and while I was driving I was thinking it was backwards ;-)

There isn't any adjustment on the throttle body arm, it's already as short as possible, it's a short arm as is.

I probably lost 1" of pedal with the sound deadening and carpet so that is a small factor, but I just don't have enough pedal to open the butterflies all the way.

That is why I figured shimming the pedal mount away from the firewall would give me more clearance from the bottom of the pedal to the top of the carpet, giving me more movement on the throttle body arm.

I still need to do some figuring
