Here is a pickup I got from my mom's boyfriend for 800.00. I have been slowly working on it for the last couple months, but it's getting there. I am having to work with a lot of rust (my 3 year old daughter named it Rusty), so it is coming along a little slower than I'd like. I'm sure I am not the only one who has a family and other responsibilities to work around, so I feel all of your pain. In the first pic, I was cleaning up the property we had just bought so it is not a very detailed picture. The next one of the door shows the kind of rust I get the pleasure of dealing with.

Then a few months later (after deciding I wanted to rebuild Rusty) I found a set of power doors on cl for 80.00. One door had a very bad wrinkle in it, but I planned to use one of the old non rusty door pieces as a donor. Notice the white line- that's where I was gonna section the door at.

Then I found a factory tach in the local wrecking yard for 40.00. Lucky me, it worked (after some advice from the fine members of this board)!

Then I found a set of seats out of an 03 chevy (which are waiting to be installed) to replace the stock seat.

Then it was time for a dash cap- for now. I think I might re-do the whole dash in either fiberglass or smoothed out filler. I am not sure yet. Maybe I will try both.

Then I banged out a few dents and primered the front clip (after buying an 87 chevy grill with the bowtie and inserts pieces)

Now I have re-replaced the passenger door after deciding it was too much work to do if could put a new one in for 60.00 anyway. By the way, it had never had power doors in the first place. The old doors were armstrong. I also picked up a new set of rally caps for 20 bucks.

In the next few weeks, I have a built 305 (.30 over, bigger cam, gear drive, etc.) that I will be dropping into it. The 305 will replace the 350 with 177k miles that is in it now. Yesterday I bought a new bed off of an 87 for 200.00. I figured it would cost at least that in parts to make my bed presentable, not to mention all of the panel flanging, welding, grinding and cutting I don't have to do now. Just beat out a few small dents, and get it ready for paint. I don't have any pics of the bed yet. The worst part, was I just bought a tailgate (with band) for 100.00 thinking I was gonna have to go through all of the labor to re-do the bed. I thought it would be totally cost prohibative to buy a newer bed. Lucky me I guess.

Nice looks like fun project. I hate having to deal with rust it sucks bad! Making some good progress gonna look great when you get done. Keep up the good work

Well here is the engine I'm gonna drop in sometime in late May. I will have to install all of the A/C stuff and power steering after the swap. I still have to clean up the firewall and a few other things. It is a 305 .030 over with a bigger cam (I can't remember the size, but it is oe bigger than an rv cam). I just put the Cloyes gear drive in last week. Today I might go to the wreckers and get myself a blazer tank. Anyhoo, here it is:

nice lookin motor.i like the pullies where did you get them from?im keeping the v-belt set up in my truck and i would like to get some nice dress up pullies and all i seem to find are dress up pullies for serp belt set-up's

Thanks for the compliments. The headers are Hedman, and I think I got the pulleys at a rod shop in Modesto CA, or summit. It has been a while since I bought them.
