Re: Need hood prop ideas for fiberglass hood
I used a hood prop from an s-10 on my old 2000 tahoe limited when I put a fiberglass cowl on it. If you order the prop and the holder it won't get in the way and it looks like it is supposed to be there. But it was not a show truck it was my dd.

Re: Need hood prop ideas for fiberglass hood
have you though of using gas struts instead of the springs?..
i've even seen someone drill a hole in the hinges and stick a pin in it to keep it proped up.. just a couple other ideas.

I think the pin idea would look nice at shows and would be easier and cheaper!!

Think I'd be leery of all the weight of the hood stressing where the hinges mount ?!?!? Check the pics link in my sig, You can see what happened to my 97 using a prop rod and what I did to do away with it.....

Re: Need hood prop ideas for fiberglass hood
I did that with my Chevelle. I used small 1/4" quick release pins through both hinges. It worked great and one person could do it. Down side is that everybody who might be working on your car needs to know about them. I had a couple people try to close the hood without pulling the pins. Cracked paint one time and cracked hood the second. This was a race weight hood so it probably cracked easier than a typical street bound hood would have. Maybe put some small "remove before flight" banners on them.
