power steering pump?
Hi
I am looking for some help. On a 69 k10 307ci were do you mount the p/s pump? It hits the alt bracket if mounted under it on drivers side. Can the alt be moved, how was it mounted from the factory? I removed the air pump from the otherside. Thanks for the help |

Re: power steering pump?
These pictures aren't very clear, but we mounted the P/S on the left side of the engine & moved the alternator to the right side by using a later style mount from a '76.

Re: power steering pump?
if the pump hits the alt, then you have the wrong, later style pump brackets.

Re: power steering pump?
The correct pump bracket bolts to the 2 holes in the lower front driver's side of the block and the first motor mount to block bolt as in the first and last photo.

Re: power steering pump?
Yeah, in my 68 C10 I have the car style power steering brackets that mount to the water pump and driver's side head instead of the block and motor mount and they put the power steering pump up much higher. You need the correct truck style power steering pump brackets like in the above photo that puts the pump much lower. You can usually find them on Ebay for about $30-$40. Or you can move the alt to the passenger side using 69 and later car brackets or aftermarket brackets. I'm using the Skip White billet alternator brackets to do just that.
