Any input would be great on my cab.

I am thinking just fabbing some custom supports and closing up the holes in this cab, maybe stripping the bondo from the roof and re-sealing it. I need to pull the door opening back together as there is about 1" gap on the driver's side. Is this worth the work to make it nice again, or should I just look for a better cab to do some body work on some day? Like I've mentioned, this is more a funtion than looks vehicle right now but some day I'd like to make it look as nice as it performs.

that cab is missing a lot of metal. i would have to agree with red, you will spend too much time and money to get that cab all fixed up.

im surprised you havent fallen through the floorboard when you get in and sit down. well at least you know that your emergency brake will always work if your primary brake ever fails. just stick your foot through the hole and do a flintstones stop.

Thanks for confirming my thoughts!

The flintstones stop won't really work when the cab is 35" off the ground, but I'm thinking the 2x4 with some old tire tread nailed to the end like a go kart might work.

please tell me that the tow strap is not holding the cab to the frame.

what caused all the rust in the first place? road salt, sitting in a field, or did you pour battery acid all over it.

That looks like it was pulled up from the bottom of the ocean. I would look for another one.

Well I'm glad I can make everyone feel better about their own projects! That's a typical Michigan old truck... I think next spring we'll take a road trip to Vegas and see what we can find on the way back... I have been looking on the OK and LV Craigslist postings and can't believe how cheap complete trucks are in those parts. For instance, in Michigan I found a stripped cab that was workable for $300. I have seen complete trucks minus the engine only for $250-650 depending on the shape of the trucks. For the money even in the small parts, I'll take the trip for the nearly complete truck.

I use that nice little hole in the body to tug the cab back and forth on the frame, I think I'll use bolts when the time comes to hold it to the frame.

It sat under a tree in a field for something like 15 years...

This is your best bet by far. A couple guys on the board come out here to Calif on a regular basis and load up on rust free cabs and sheet metal.
