68 question - Seat Belts

Did 68 pickups have seat belts ?

It occurred to me as I woke up this morning that my truck has no seat belts and I am worried this is yet another stumbling block toward inspection.

Re: 68 question - Seat Belts

it should probably have lap belts at least 1968 was the year that it became law for automakers to include a belt at all positions - my 67 has lap belts though

Re: 68 question - Seat Belts

My 68 is bone stock original and unrestored. Of course that is all changing as we speak. My truck has only lap belts. I do plan on adding shoulder belts when I start on the interior.

x 2 on gemstreetrods. He is local to me and has the best prices. His kit includes the necessary brackets to mount the three point belts. only thing is, you will have to get the buckle straps cut down, they are too long.

I am glad to hear he was helpful. You should see him in person. He is a crusty grumpy old coot

Re: 68 question - Seat Belts

Have you guys seen the Dragon Red belt color ? Is it more orange than red ?

My truck is hugger orange and I would love to have orange belts to sit on my black seats. It would look awesome.

Re: 68 question - Seat Belts

all 67 - 72 GM pickups with full cabs, burbs, panels, and blaxers, 10 - 30 series, came with at least 2 lap belts.
If your Tx inspector knows his stuff, then you'll get turned away without them, and also, if you put retractable 3 point belts in it, he is supposed to send you away too. I learned this at a Tx inspection with my first truck.
