Re: What the most you've hauled with bags?
Not heavy but towed w/o issue....
I've had my 74 on my 18ft steel floor open car trailer pulled by my 68 Beater (2600#/7" dbl convoluted Firestones, 1.5" alum lowering blocks, bolt-in style c-notches, & adj Panhard bar). I've also pulled my RetroRod 67 project w/that same trailer & 68 Beater. My 74 has a flip-kit on stock leaves out back w/a driveway built schrader valve/manual fill AOL set-up. It has towed the 68 Beater, my 64 'Recycle'[ project, & my 78 Malibu all w/o issue.

Re: What the most you've hauled with bags?
I need to haul a yard of top soil (2000-2400lbs). I am wondering if my system can handle the psi needed in the bags.
I have basically the same setup as you. i am running the DOT plastic lines to brass push-to-connect fittings in the bags. That's where i am thinking its going to fail. Last edited by dznucks; 05-06-2010 at 06:49 AM. |

Re: What the most you've hauled with bags?
I had my truck loaded with cobs of corn last year for a fund raiser for my sons hockey team. It was past the sides. I think it was well over 120 dozen. Aired it up and road like a dream.

Re: What the most you've hauled with bags?
Well, thanks for the confidence guys. I used to haul the load with my old static 2/4 drop. it definitley set me on the bumps stops.
I was just concerned about the PSI needed to raise the load with the bags. entourageguy, you dont happen to recall what PSI you needed to raise that load, do you? |

Re: What the most you've hauled with bags?
That's alot for the rear of a truck. Ride pressures are typically no more the 50psi. I ran mine @ 30psi (dbl convoluted bag in place of OE coils on OE truck arms) & then would bump air pressure up to 50-60psi when I loaded up the rear w/cargo or loaded my trailer.
DOT PTC (push to connect) fittings will handle the necessary pressure w/o issue.

Re: What the most you've hauled with bags?
Its not going to be the bag that is the problem, it is the type of suspension system and frame work you have behind it. 2 link, 4 link, Canitlever and wishbone(just a few examples) all play a part on load. I would not personally haul a lot with anything with a big step notch in it. Just my 2 cents.

Re: What the most you've hauled with bags?
I ended up hauling three loads of top soil. Funny thing is....it rode better with all the dirt in the back.
