Re: Drive it home...or not?

Are there 2-lanes to take?I`d drive it either way.You have to drive someting to go get it and follow it back home, right? Why not take a truck and trailer and if there`s a problem...there ya go,problem solved.I don`t believe the AAA will tow a commercial vehicle.
I`ve driven qute a few across the country and I`ve had a mishap or two.No biggy, all the more fun. It`s a gas to do.Where`s the sense of adventure anymore? If a truck is going to blow up in that short distance you really shouldn`t be buying it.I`d think I could tell a motor on it`s last legs.If it doesn`t get hot sittin`there it`ll be good on the road.If it`s got oil pressure sittin`there it`ll have it on the road. They key is check it over and let it run a good while and check it again.

Re: Drive it home...or not?

I drove my 69 home (only about 30 miles though). It was pretty fun. Had to make a stop at autozone for some power steering fluid (there was NONE) and some tie downs for the tarp to cover the bed full of junk that came with the truck.

Another guy on here bought a 396 SWB truck at the portland swap meet and drove it like 16 hrs home!

Re: Drive it home...or not?

There won't be any pictures or adventure. The truck was sold before I pulled the trigger. Thanks for all the suggestions anyway.

Re: Drive it home...or not?

Go for the adventure. I flew to New Orleans and drove my suburban from Baton Rouge to Gainesville GA with no problems. The guy I bought it from drove it from San Diego to Baton Rouge with the original belts and hoses!
