fuel pump problem...?

pulled my 82 stepside with a 355 .. quadrajet... in drive way few weeks ago .. ran great .. tried to start up over weekend wasnting pumping fuel up ... changed fuel pump same problem .....same thing ...blew air with compressor back through lines to tank and air came out filler neck .. have alomst full tank of gas... cranked engine and could fell vacumn on input lines of fule pump .... any idea's..?

Give the tank to pump line a thorough inspection. Look for anything that could allow the pump to be sucking air into the line instead of fuel from the tank. Like a crack or split in one of the rubber hose sections. Or a tiny rust hole through the steel line.

had the exact same thing happen to my 85, finally replaced the lil paper filter in carb and it fired right up, couldnt imagine a lil filter blocked so bad that it wouldnt allow gas to get into carb
