"66 Chevy Truck"
I am about as new to this as possible (like 2 minutes into it) but I have questions regarding my 1966 Chevy Fleetside swb truck. I am not a mechanic by any means but I can spell it, I think, so I am already starting out at a big disadvantage from what I have read. I have owned this truck for around 36 years. It has the 250 six cylinder motor with over 360k miles everything original. I had the motor overhauled at 114k miles so I have several miles on a rebuilt engine. I am thinking of going with a v8 this time but I don't know what all I am going to have to change to do it. I am not concerned about keeping it original as I intend to own this truck until I die. If someone can direct me to someone who has had experience in this field so that I could pick their brains a little, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Re: "66 Chevy Truck"
Welcome to the forums from Kansas City, KS. Congrats on owning your rig for so long. I have converted several from six cylinder to a V8, so let me know if I can help. Feel free to contact me at the phone number in my signature, if you are going to do the conversion. Take care and keep us posted on your progress.

Re: "66 Chevy Truck"
You may want to consider this V-8 conversion. Great performance and good fuel mileage.

Re: "66 Chevy Truck"
If your planning on doing an engine trans anyway, go with the LSx and a OD trans ( mine is a 4l60e). Better mileage and longevity. Not a hard swap if you have some information, I would be more than glad to share to anyone. I went in blind and spent alot more than I should have. Good luck!

Re: "66 Chevy Truck"
tx firefighter would be a good contact for this as well.
he said the swap can be done pretty quick.the best part is that you can reuse your 250 starter bellhousing. he will probably fill you in on the rest.
