How to install Grille on 1970?

Can anybody help me out on how to install a Grille on a 1970? Do I have to take off the bumper? Any help will be appreciated, thanks!

Yes, in order to properly install the grille and without damaging it, you must remove the front bumper. Trevor

Make sure to remove all of the bolts up in the top sides of the grille between it and the radiator support. You will think you have them all, but sometimes you forget one or two that are back in there. I think there are 3 or 4 up in the tops, and 2-3 at the bottom sides. Unplug the front turn signal lights and that should be all to take it off. Trevor

Re: How to install Grille on 1970?

Ok the thing is, I don't have a grille on it at all right now. Is there any how-to- instructions on how to install a '70 grille?

Re: How to install Grille on 1970?

I can help with a little bit if it is the same as my '68.

You should have one middle support bracket that attaches to the grille and the Chevy logo emblem in the front. This center brace also helps support the hood latch. The hood latch will span from in front of the radiator to the bottom support bar and to the front of the grille. (5 screws hold this on if I remember correctly)

There at least two screws at the top that screw into the sides. (Bolt and washer for all of these btw.) I didn't take mine completely off, but that is coming in the near future.

I think the '68 may be a little different to install then a '70, but I may be wrong? I do have the middle support hatch though.

I'm really just in need of where to bolt the grill onto? Anybody got any pics of instructions how to do it?

Re: How to install Grille on 1970?

It bolts to the insides of the fenders and to the hood latch. If you bought a new grill you'll need the grill mounts as well that have to be pop riveted to the grill itself.

Re: How to install Grille on 1970?

Well I bought the grille, so it is new to me! But I think I have those grill mounts on it. I need to check when I get home.So all I would need is to bolt on the two sides onto the fenders and just up top on the hood latch?
