Lowering a 3/4 ton, Help!
I'm just looking for some suggestions to point me in the right direction. I have a 71 Chevy 3/4 lwb with leafs in the rear. I will be getting 17" rims with low profile tires. I want to do either a 2/4 or 3/5 drop that would provide a good ride and allow for the occasional load heavy load and doesn't cause the ass end to scrape the pavement. I've read and am still reading all sorts of builds that cut coils, use drop spindles, flip the leafs, replace the leafs, install airbags, etc and it's become quite confusing. Since I don't have the bankroll to try all these methods, I was hoping that I could get the forums two cents or someones finger pointing in the right direction. Thanks.

Re: Lowering a 3/4 ton, Help!
I am planning on doing the same thing soon. There are a few really good threads with 3/4 ton trucks on here. I will try and find the links, though it sounds like you might have seen them already.
For my setup, I want to keep the hauling capabilities and want to keep things as original as possible, so I am leaning toward a flip kit for the rear leafs (not much $$ either) and probably using lowered spindles with lowered springs in the front. I still need to research for exact needs, but just to give you an idea. |

Here is how I dropped mine a few weeks ago Link. I haven't tried hauling yet, but I need to go get some gravel next week and I was gonna try to get 1 ton (before the drop I got a 3500 pound load without bottoming). I'll let you know how it goes.
