fuel pick up

how do you take the fuel pickup outta the tank

Your asking about the sending unit and float??? There is a lock ring that you turn counter clockwise, hit it with a flathead and a hammer. That retaining ring will pop out.

There is a ring that is around the sender body. Use a brass punch or something that will NOT produce a spark and tap the ring away from the stops. Then remove it all as an assembly.

no you can still take the sending unit and float out, if you plan on pulling the whole tank out its easier if its not so full but can still be done.

heres a pic of the ring you need to turn, i just use a flathead screwdriver.

there's an oring in there that seals it// good idea to replace it when reinstalling sender

They also sell a special tool to remove the ring; it becomes very useful when you want to retighten the sending unit lock ring.
