Re: i need help !!!

gmc hoods are shorter because of the chrome trim strip that goes on the front lip. i was given a perfect gmc hood for my 72 chev and it is short. a 67-68 hood has a different slope on the front compared to a 69-72 hood. old money.

Re: i need help !!!

Found this out the hard way too. Here is a pic of the different style fenders. Left side is 67-68 Chevy (GMC 67-72) and right side is 69-72 fender. The 67-68 chevy hood will not line up to 69-72 fenders, body line, grill, and hood latch is different. Good to know!!

Re: i need help !!!

I did the same thing. I had no idea they were different. I bought the old man a front clip for his 68 as a birthday gift and the fenders were different. LOL Live and learn.

Good news is you can always sell or trade it for what you need. I would run an add on CL we can't be the only ones who have ever done this.

Re: i need help !!!

roondog4416 has a 69 GMC, so all he needs to change to use a 67-68 hood on his GMC is
#1-Swap 69-72 GMC Grill top bar with a 67-68 GMC grill top bar
#2-Swap your 69-72 hood latch mechanism for a 67-68 hood latch
#3-Swap your 69-72 GMC grill center brace hood latch support for a 67-68
#4-Remove your front fender eyebrows and fill the holes left.
Thats it nothing else needs changed.
A Chevy would require you to change the
#1- Swap 69-72 Radiator Support to 67-68
#2-Swap 69-72 Front Fenders to 67-68
#3-Swap 69-70 or 71-72 Grill to 67-68
#4-Swap 69-72 grill center brace hood latch support for a 67-68
#5-Swap 69-72 hood latch mechanism for a 67-68 hood latch
