Truck back on the road.

Well after three long days of trying get a balnacer i finnaly got it and put everything back together. truck seems to have a little more spunk now that the balancer is new and a new timing chain. also no leaks. yes always a good thing. but isnt there always one of those. ok but now my truck under load has a valve rattle and im thinking either i have my timing off. or the thick oil 20/50 is to much and not coating fast enough. this is the only time the rattle shows is when the truck is underload and after i get going it goes away until i have to stop and take off again. any ideas on what i could do. also my carb is running rich and it smells like theres alot of excess gas after i shut the truck off. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like timing on the valve rattle under load. I would bet that you're off a bit. On the carb wait until you get the timing set correctly then tune the carb. The right timing could make the carb be dead on.

You know this has been on my mind all night last night. i think i will check the timing i retimed it after i was done but what got me was when i did the timing chain and alligned the marks the rotor was pointing at the firewall. so im thinking it could possibly be running on number 6. man this has my brain in go mode.lol any thoughts about this.

If this were me, I would yank the plug wires and the dist, find TDC compression on #1, drop the dist in, run my wires in order, and then recheck my timing mark. But I am anal when it comes to having the rotor pointing towards #1 cylinder on TDC compression.

I planned to pul the number one plug and put the truck on tdc and see where the mark is on the balancer and see where the rotor is pointing.
