'91 Clip Swap & Hood Cable Length
I put a '91 Suburban core support/headlights/grille/etc. on my '81 Crew Cab and there is nice hole in the coor support that looks to be perfect to route the hood latch cable. My cable is factory and it is too short to go through the hole and connect to the latch. All of the parts catalogs I looked at do not offer a different cable ... at least from what I noticed.
Anyone ever run into this issue?

That's the hole I'm talking about in the core support. Does your cable reach your hood latch? Mine is a few inches too short... and even then the cable is tight across the inner fender wells.

Maybe they exit the firewall in different locations.

Re: '91 Clip Swap & Hood Cable Length
I have a 89 Burb clip, and an 87 truck. The routing is identical compared between the two and cables are exactly the same between the two. Basically pokes out the firewall, has a common tie down on the fender skirt that it shares with some vacuum lines, goes through that hole in the support, ends up topside through the hole and goes right to the latch. If anything, I'd say I got extra slop in the cable.
You're not trying to route the cable up by the washer bottle or between the fender and jack are you? My cable goes right over the jack instructions, but has enough slack to move it out of the way to read said instructions. |
