Toppless 70 GMC ????

I have a 70 GMC shortbed custom. Body is very solid with only the rocker panels that need replacing. I have listed the truck on Craigslist and tried to sale it for $2000 with no luck. This is not a ad to sell the truck. I have seen in magazines where trucks have been made into convertibles.
What do you guys think about this?
Does anyone have a process on how to do this right?
Not sure if I want to cut it up or restore back to orginal.
Please ad some pics if you have some. Thanks for the information and your ideas.

Thanks for this great site and the information you guys share.

NOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't do it!!!!

Don't punish a perfectly good truck by chopping the top off, that would make it really unsellable. Leave it as is... someone will want it.

Still wanna go topless? Find a Blazer!

What's the engine? You may have it overpriced. I have a 70 longbed, 6 cyl 3 spd, with very little rust and a new interior. Runs good. At one time, I tried to sell it for $1000 and no one was interested, so I decided to keep it.

Re: Toppless 70 GMC ????

You'll have to come down on price if you're gonna sell it.

If you would like to covert a truck into a convertible... there are thousands of Nissans, ad Toyotas that would be more suited to something like that. My opinion...

But... if making that truck into a convertible is your gig, and you wanna be different... it's YOUR truck. Do what YOU want... not what WE would want.

I f you want to sell it, then slap some trim and door handles on it, lower it few inches and put some nice wheels and tires on it...then it will sell

Re: Toppless 70 GMC ????

350 4 barrell holly and 350 tranny. I think I was right on the price this truck it is very solid. I have almost changed my mind on selling it.
I did not like the GMC to start with but now I think it is unique because you don't see as many as the chevys.
I have a big list of thing I would like to do to the truck, but not sure if the payback is there. I have a hot SBC on the stand I am finishing this week. Maybe I will paint it flat black, drop in the new engine and terrorize the neighborhood with straight headers. 292 comp cam hits hard and sounds great. I need a bailout from Obama so I will have some cash for projects. Still not sure which way to go.

Re: Toppless 70 GMC ????

If you wanna do the convertible thing, go find one with a rusted roof - there are plenty out there, less & less solid ones every day.

Re: Toppless 70 GMC ????

I would say don't cut it off and look for a blazer.

If you really want to cut it off, this is what it would look like:
