Longhorn stepside

Well, they have longhorn fleetside and 8ft stepside. I think someone (maybe me) should make a stepside longhorn. Custom lettered tailgate etc. I think it'd look cool. Anyone up for a render?

Re: Longhorn stepside

You could get the stepside in a 9 foot bed.
3/4 ton..... 1 ton chassis.

Local guy had one. I measured it. Thought he was full of crap. I was mistaken.

That was about 10 years ago.

Pretty sure a couple guys here have them.

Re: Longhorn stepside

no, the only truck called a longhorn was an 8 1/2 foot fleetside. Longhorns could be had in 3/4 ton or one ton.
3/4 tons had 8 foot stepsides, and one tons had 9 foot stepsides.

Why badge a stepside a longhorn knowing it isn't, when too many ppl out there already are confused on the subject?

Re: Longhorn stepside

Did you know that there are quite a few books about trucks? One in particular is called, "The Standard Catalog of Chevrolet Trucks". It covers Chevy trucks from 1918, thru 1995 (at least the one I own). If you had one, or knew someone who did who would let your look at it with your own two eyes, you would learn a lot about a lot of trucks, Chevy's of course.

I'm not dissin' you, but trying to help you learn more about Chevy trucks than you care to know. It would enable you to answer questions that new members may ask.

I have The Standard Catalog of light duty Trucks, and highly recomend it. it is way better than the red book, lots more info, and more acurate too.

Did I miss something in the posts above?

Stepsides were available in SWB, 3/4-ton (8-lug) and in 1-ton, also 8-lug.

Re: Longhorn stepside

There were 3 length Stepsides:
6'...only 1/2t
8'...1/2t & 3/4t
9'...only 1t

There were 3/4t 6' Stepsides as late as the Task Force design (55-59) and earlier.

What...was I correcting you?I got your drift. You must have worded it right for that to happen.
Did you catch my humor with the shortbed thingy?BTW,you can correct me anytime,Randy.I mean Andy.

Now,for the department of corrections...
Looks like 15" rims and a C/10 truck to me.Lemme see if I have a tonner to show the difference. You know one when you see it.You don`t see that many 8-footers so they do look exceptionally long compared to 6-footers we see so much more of.But,when you see an 8-footer....you`ll thinking,"Now,that`s a ho lotta truck right there.I don`t care who ya are."(did I sound like Larry?)

Aw heck.I don`t have any.If no one else pulls one up I`ll check on a CD if I had any.I lost all my stuff when computer problems hit me.At some point I had loaded a CD just to try it out. But,it was a long while back.

Re: Longhorn stepside

My grandfather had a 3/4 ton long stepside. That's what made me fall in love with these trucks. Man, I miss that truck (and granddad).

Re: Longhorn stepside

Hello,

I have a 1969 GMC. I was told it was it was a longbox but I have found that the 6" gap between the cab and the box was not a construction box like I was told. I have been told someone put a longbox on a longhorn frame. I have post the pic and would love to find a a box to fit the truck.

Re: Longhorn stepside

Here are a few pictures I have of 8' beds. The last one is mine, it is a '71 C-10 I put a bed off of a '67 C-20 on it.

It seems I have not saved any pictures of the 9' beds.
