K&N Air Filter for Viair Compressor?? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Keith (lolife99) and I were talking about this a few weeks ago. we both remember someone running a K&N air filter setup on thier Viair compressor. I bought my compressor used, and I didn't get the oem (plastic) air filter. the air intake appears to contain an n.p.t. tap; don't know what size it is though.

would like to dress up the compressor rack a bit and a nice filter setup would fit the bill.

If you can't find a K&N,... you can always use Viair's remote kit.

Doug,... I would just run one of these.
The one with the stud coming out of the top,... would make for easy mounting in a remote location.

I picked up a couple small "K & N" style filters at my local O'Reillly's over in the ricer doo-dad section.

Check them out before giving crazy money for a K & N.

cool. good idea, Shaner. I'll pick up a cheapy wanna-be-Fast and-the-Furious style at Advance Auto and give it a whirl. you have a good thought. K&N is proud of thier stuff! new avatar???? what's up with dat!

just take a filter from a viair into a plumbing store and find a barb fitting with the same size threads and find a small k&N filter for it, now that i think of it, im gonna give it a try too

my used one didnt come with the filter either. i asked around on the forum and someone just mailed me one for free! cant remember his name though..

figured this one out.
ran over to Ace and got a 1/4" npt male x 1/2" male "barb" end. then ran over to Advance Auto and picked up a cheapy (thanks Shane) filter in the ricer boy section. trick looks for less than 12 buckeroos!

here's the setup. Shaner, thanks for the idea!!

this is a pic of the cheap (3.80 a piece @ MCS Industrial) sintered metal valve silencers. made my drop a little slower and a LOT more quiet! should keep the dust and direct water spray out as well.

looks good! I have the "silencers" from suicide doors to go on the exhaust side of my valves. If they aren't quiet enough I know what I'm gonna try next.
