Stock Radio Question
I have the stock am/fm/cassette radio in my 83 suburban. Works fine except for there is no back-light on the station screen. Did these radios have a light bulb in them, and if so how do I replace it.
Thanks in advance |

Re: Stock Radio Question
I need a wiring diagram for the radio in my 79. someone went nuts with trying to put an aftermarket in the truck and jacked everything.

Re: Stock Radio Question
may or may not be the problem but there is a separate fuse to the radio that controls the light and some other functions. It's labeled in my truck as the Horn-Dim fuse.

Re: Stock Radio Question
radio works perfectly fine, just no backlight. Its been like that since I bought it, but if figured that there was maybe a bulb in there that had burned out and i could just replace.
At least everything else works fine. |

Re: Stock Radio Question
well I cant even find where the radio harness is. it had a DVD player in it, with no harness whatsoever haha. This might be a complete radio wire job.

Re: Stock Radio Question
There is a bulb in there and it is replaceable. You need to take the radio out of the truck. Once you've done that you'll see two nuts on the shafts that need to come off. Once you have those two nuts off the faceplate will slide forward and off. The bulb is behind the faceplate and you can probably find a new one at radio shack. The bulb is pretty small. It also probably has a bluish green condom n it. I just took one of the apart a couple of weeks ago and have some pics on my computer but I'm on my iPhone right now
