Blazer sidelined.

I think it might be the battery! Voltage drops down to 4 under a load. Gonna take it to the shop to drop the t=case and re-seal it. Gotta replace that reduction speedo thing that goes into the tranny. Mine is leaking. Hope it's done bu the end of the week.

Re: Blazer sidelined.

Replacing the speedo reduction unit won't solve your leak issue at the t-case. You need to replace the small seal that goes around the speedo gear shaft to stop the leak. I don't remember the part number, but maybe someone else will chime in. The leak only looks like its coming from the speedo recuction unit because the oil travels past the old seal on the speedo gear shaft and into the reduction unit, which isn't designed to hold oil.

Also, if you have an auto tranny, the seal(s) bewteen the NP205 and tranny can leak. This causes tranny fluid to continuously fill the t-case and cause more leakage out of the speedo gear shaft hole because the t-case is always over-filled to a level over the speedo shaft seal. These are the things that I learned when fixiing my leaking speedo shaft seal. Hope this helps.

Re: Blazer sidelined.

Ok, one more note on the sidelined Blazer. The week before last i noticed that the steering was getting Sloppier. I wld turn the wheel but the Blazer wld keep going straight and then turn. With a little help from my daughter I was able to see that the spring pack was moving on the axle when turning. I broke out the impact and blasted them. That problem solved. Now, need to buy the part above and stop the leaks.

Re: Blazer sidelined.

Got all the belts back on Ol' Yeller and fired it up. Runs like a champ. Think I'm gonna drive it tomorrow and have some fun. I can't wait to get the body mounts done so I can take off the top. Btw, thanks Blizz for the "putty" suggestion. Maybe next time.
