AC questions

I need some info from those of you who are familiar with the factory AC stuff. I cut the belt on my compressor because the clutch bearings were squealing & I just wanted to get the truck drivable at that point - now that its summer I'm wondering about getting the AC rolling. I took the top off the valve & pushed it in & was rewarded with a weak PSSTT, so I know it's holding some coolant & maybe I can cobble it together for a while since I don't mind feeding it a little over the summer. So I need a little help from those with more experience with these setups:

1. Is it possible to take the clutch apart & grease anything or am I stuck buying a new clutch?

2. I know on the newer systems there is a pressure switch you can jumper & force the clutch to engage to suck in the coolant - is there something like that on a factory setup & if so where?

3. Which lever on the dash controller actually turns the compressor on - my top lever is broken, but the others work - if the top lever controls it, where is the switch I need to "modify" so I can kick the air on when I want it?

Feel free to offer any other advice you might think is helpful.

Thanks!!!

Re: AC questions

you can run a simple on off switch to the compressor if u want it to run.
