exaust problems........
-im installing ths engine for this guy down the road from me and im replacing a 79 350 with a 72 invader 350 out of a work van. the engine is clean!!! for 1972 btw. but heres the prob he exaust manifolds from the 79' wont fit the heads on the 72 ???? i thought all sbc's were the same theres an 18 inch off both back cylinders the bolts are far from lined up. i can only get 4 bolts in on either side im confused -kyle

how far off are the other two bolt holes? The manifold may have contracted. You can get expanders from a tool dealer

I have had this happen myself, it was a pain, but i got all the bolts in eventually. Try getting all of them in about 4 threads, and if you get them all started, then spin each one down a little bit untill your done.
When i installed the caddy engine I coulda sworn the 472 manifolds were not the same as the 425...but it was just from heat cycling. |
