I have always wanted to do a hood that way too, I guess really trick, you could mold the cowl vent on and do hideaway wipers too... another option would be like a 48 buick, where the hood opens from either side, I think they had a hinge on either side of the hood, and the whole thing raised sideways depending which side of the car you were on.
