Transmission mount won't fit!

I am replacing the transmission mount that I found collapsed and the new mount won't fit. It's a 1984 GMC 2wd sb with 700r4. The part number I have it a 2392 from local parts store. It looks the same as the old mount and bolts to trans but the lower stud will not align with crossmember. Does anyone have a pic of the crossember and mount on there truck?

Re: Transmission mount won't fit!

you try rotating the thing 180 to make it work? Some of them are straight inline with the 2 bolt holes others are offset. I had a hard time finding one for our 84 at Autozone but it has a th350 in it. I ended up getting another style, one from an 85 monte carlo.

check this out...

http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par.../N-ik2xeZ6o23q

the one with the a in front is offset looking and the one ends in v is not. At least that's how they look may be the difference. You may have one and need the other.

Re: Transmission mount won't fit!

Thanks, I was thinking of going and grabbing one to see if it will work. Now after that I just need to get a driveshaft cut. The one I got is about 3" too long. This truck is being a pain in my side.

Re: Transmission mount won't fit!

the one I got is 3 inches too short, came out of the 84 which had a th350 c long tail or same length as a 700r4 trans would use and we need a 3 inch longer one, can't hardly find one or find a local shop to do them.

Re: Transmission mount won't fit!

Sometimes to have to push the stud forward. I lifted my trans to do the filter and when I dropped it back down it did not line up. The stud is in rubber so it will flex.

Re: Transmission mount won't fit!

The mount listed in the book did not match my old one. I had to match it up visually with one in the book. I got lucky that visit, and got a counter guy who knew what a book was...
