harmonic balancer
i have a 5.7 350 and i cant get my harmonic balancer on all the way. the bolt will barely bite but thats it. i've hammered it on with a metal bar but it just wont budge on any more. ne ideas?

dont hammer on it! go to the local parts store, leave a deposit, and rent a Harmonic balancer installer.

As said do not hammer on it you could destroy the thrust bearing on your crankshaft.

it says you CAN hammer it tho. well i'll go get an installer but i have a feeling that it wont change ne thing... thanks guys! |

You might want to take the harmonic balancer off and make sure the key is in the keyway ok.
My grandson had the same problem getting the harmonic balancer on so that is what he did. He used the installation tool the next time he tried to put the harmonic balancer back on and it went ok.

Ive actually seen those keys messed up and until you change the key you wont have much luck getting it on.
